Malaysia: Ampang Line Extension – Rolling Stock Manager

Acting as the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for a fleet of new CBTC controlled LRV’s for the Ampang Line Extension Project in Kuala Lumpur. The role involved:

  • providing advice on LRV certification to the Malaysian regulator, SPAD, and producing a Roadmap to certification

  • monitoring compliance to the specification and international standards throughout the design, build and testing phases

  • providing documentary evidence to SPAD for the safety certification of the trains and systems

  • monitoring of the various Hazard Logs

  • witnessing and approving factory acceptance tests and LRV and systems type tests

  • ensuring the system integration for all of the LRV interfaces and in particular the CBTC

  • manufacturing support including the supervision of an on-site surveillance team based in the contractor’s factory in China.

  • making recommendations for Contract Variations from both a technical and commercial perspective.

  • advising the client on technical issues including design reviews, test procedures and test results.

  • providing technical advice for a new purpose built depot being built to service, maintain and overhaul the new fleet. This also included identifying and managing the train to depot interfaces

Malaysia: KLJ line Rolling Stock mid-life refurbishment and overhaul.
Acting as Consulting Engineer (CE) for the Midlife Refurbishment, Rectification, Overhaul, Coupling and other Related Works of the Existing 2-Car Trains for Kelana Jaya line. Involved project support including design reviews, compliance verification and technical advice.
