Position requires individual to exercise broad area of responsibilities concerning a fluid cracking catalyst and moving bed catalyst manufacturing organization. Operation consists of a 24 hour per day, 365 day per year rotating shift operation. Accountabilities for the position include monitoring daily manufacturing and shipping operations are in accordance with established standards for safety, housekeeping, environmental compliance, manufacturing plan execution, employee morale, equipment productivity, manufacturing costs, and product quality. Individual will perform complex conventional engineering assignments including process optimization and problem solving using technical skills and knowledge. Position requires creativity to provide innovative or novel approaches to solve problems.
• Engaging and assisting the operations group to drive safety issues to resolution and ensure safety is the top priority for all employees. Also, supporting the Journey to Excellence by establishing safety accountabilities and expectations within the workforce and ensuring management behaviors are met.
• Supporting the Operations’ Group quality objectives through initiatives outlined in target agreements. Also, providing assistance as needed to the FCC and MBC/Logistics front line leadership as required to maintain or improve product quality. This includes participating as an investigator for customer concerns as generated in the Non-Conformance Management process as well.
• Obtaining Lean/Six Sigma Greenbelt and utilizing Lean/Six Sigma to improve processes in the plant to ensure the productivity goals for the respective production areas are met.
• Investigating manufacturing variable and fixed costs to look for opportunities to reduce or eliminate using LSS. Also, investigating material variances to determine key drivers causing issues then provide solutions to correct problems.
• Leading the SAP inventory reconciliation process to ensure receipts, production, consumption, and inventory adjustments are appropriately made. Escalating issues identified during the reconciliation to appropriate individuals to assist with resolution.
• Participating in the scheduling of maintenance work for the manufacturing areas and management of operational spending as well as assisting with the maintenance of Process and Instrument Diagrams.
• Representing the Operations’ Group during capital project development and execution and leading Statistical Process Control (SPC) for key manufacturing variables/metrics.
• Identifying opportunities and developing plans to continually lower operating costs and increase productivity.
• Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, preferable Chemical Engineering.
• 2+ years minimum experience in a process manufacturing environment.
• Experience Collecting and analyzing technical, financial, and operational data using Lean Six Sigma statistical methods to improve operational processes.
• Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills as well as ability to understand business priorities and make decisions in a dynamic work environment related to Supply Chain and Customer Care.
• Strong Organizational skills and ability to work effectively across department lines as a part of the operational and site team.
• The ability to communicate and report data and operating results to a broad audience.
