Director of Urban Solutions Hatch London

The Opportunity

Hatch Urban Solutions are expanding our senior leadership team. There is an important opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated and entrepreneurial economic development Director to further strengthen our economic development business, lead high profile projects and support the development of our UK team.

This is a significant opportunity is for someone with ambition and a track record of winning and delivering consultancy projects in the UK.

The global Urban Solutions team brings together experts in planning/masterplanning, urban design, economic development, transport, engineering, infrastructure, and development strategy to inspire positive change in cities and communities across the world.

The Role & Person Spec

• Director, or similar level experience in economic development consultancy
• Possess clear leadership skills and capabilities to enhance the existing UK Senior Leadership Team
• Proven work winner with strong commercial skills to generate new business
• Experience of managing multi-disciplinary projects and teams
• Experience in managing project and team commercial performance in a consultancy environment
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments

In addition, candidates should have extensive experience in winning and delivering consultancy projects in two or more of the following core areas:

• economic strategy
• case making and appraisal
• impact assessment
• evaluation
• land & property
• social value
• town center plans
• economic support for masterplanning
• other key policy areas including digital, innovation and net zero

Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of projects in line with client expectation and in compliance with the Hatch standards and systems
• Take a lead role in the development of proposals and deliverables.
• Contribute to growing the business and achieving business development targets through client relationships and project pursuits
• Support the bid development processes by managing technical proposals and providing written technical inputs as necessary.
• Engage with the global Urban Solutions team to contribute to strategic planning of short and long-term business direction;
• Work closely with other managers on all ongoing projects and staffing;
• Provide quality assurance of ongoing projects, reports, bid submissions and products;
