Oberon Council is seeking a suitably qualified Infrastructure and Projects Engineer professional with a proven track record in a Local Government context and previous leadership experience to join the executive team by overseeing responsible for leading the Engineers, Overseer, Maintenance Foreman and Works teams. As a member of the Technical Services Department provide management of the Works Section to attain operational and strategic objectives within the framework of a prescribed capital and operational budget.
This hands-on role requires the Infrastructure and Projects Engineer to have tertiary qualifications in Engineering and a sound practical understanding of budgets, strategic planning and analytical skills, with ability to effectively lead an agenda of cultural change.
The Infrastructure and Projects Engineer works closely and cooperatively with the General Manager, Technical Services Director and Technical Services Manager, as well as all other Council employees to plan, deliver, monitor and review a broad range of capital project activities and maintenance services delivered by Council. The Infrastructure and Projects Engineer encourages, inspires and leads innovation and creativity in the Technical Services areas of Council.
To be successful in this role, you will have the following Essential Key Selection Criteria skills set.
Tertiary qualifications in a civil engineering discipline at Diploma level or above and equivalent 3 years recent work experience.
Demonstrated record of achievement at a senior level in the delivery of civil works, water management, projects, preferably gained within a local government environment.
Demonstrated strategic and asset management skills.
Proven knowledge of applicable Acts, Regulations, water and sewerage treatment, environmental, quality management, continuous improvement systems and programs.
High level computer literacy in the use MS suite of applications.
Current class C driver's licence.
Traffic Controller, Implement Traffic Control Plans and Prepare Work Zone Traffic Management Plan certificate (or ability to readily acquire prior to commencement).
Construction Induction White Card.
Working knowledge of roles and responsibilities under Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
Desirable Key Selection Criteria
Experience in the overseeing of water and wastewater facilities.
Membership of or eligibility for membership with the Institute of Engineers Australia.

Medical Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to satisfactory complete a pre-employment medical examination covering the areas of drug and alcohol screening, hearing, vision, core upper/lower body strengths and balance, manual handling, cardiovascular and blood pressure.
