With over six decades of business and technical experience in the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors, we see challenges evolving in every industry. We respond quickly with solutions that are smarter, more efficient, and innovative. We draw upon our 9,000 staff, with experience in over 150 countries, to challenge the status quo and create positive change for our clients, our employees, and the communities we serve.
Our Project Delivery Group (PDG) helps clients with world-class project delivery from studies to building assets, operating the assets, and developing efficiencies through our people, methodologies, governance, and systems. Our engineering and project management and construction disciplines ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of projects globally across the metals and mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
Project Information Managers (PIM) are responsible for the strategies and processes that support the planning, production, and delivery of information for the project’s entire lifecycle.
Serving all functions and disciplines, Project Information Managers develop the digital execution strategy, the information production and delivery processes and workflows to ensure all functional information is produced, integrated, and consolidated into an Information Model that satisfies the project’s information requirements. The PIM understands and coordinates the requirements for digital delivery and provides specialist advice to create value for stakeholders, while applying a continuous improvement culture to all digital delivery initiatives.
The PIM maintains overall responsibility for the design modelling process, model information exchange.
PIMs manage the Information Management discipline on a project, ensuring all Project Delivery Systems are setup and operating to support the IM processes and workflows. The Information Manager is the primary liaison between the Project Team, the Project Delivery Systems teams (including IT) and any external parties that Hatch must exchange information with.
Key Responsibilities
Where required, during pursuits the PIM develops digital strategies and pre-award Information Management Plans (IMPs) and/or BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and contributes to the pursuit documentation and cost estimate for the Information Management discipline. The PIM ensures the pursuit has adequately priced in the Information Management requirements, resources, and risk in accordance with Hatch’s digital cost recovery model.
Develop and implement post-award Information Management Plans and/or BIM Execution Plans, procedures and workflows to support information production and delivery processes to satisfy the project’s information requirements.
Establish Information Standards and Information Management quality processes necessary to ensure compliance, including:
Model Management Standards (i.e. federation, clash detection & issue resolution)
CAD Management Standards (i.e. title blocks)
Data Management Standards (i.e. data validation, asset tagging)
Document Management Standards (i.e. templates)
Develop the federation strategy and establish and maintain the Information Container Breakdown Structure, including all individual Information Container Registers (Drawing Register, Model Breakdown Structure, Document List, Data Lists). Ensure Information Model federation is tested and maintained according to the IMP.
Develop an Information Management risk management strategy to identify & address risks to the engagement’s outcomes resulting from Information Management processes, digital delivery systems, data or IT infrastructure.
Determine training/onboarding requirements and develop and implement a training plan to ensure all members of the Project Team are sufficiently trained in the project specific IMP/BEP.
Assess the information management and digital execution capabilities of supplier and sub-consultants
Communicate and promote the Information Management strategy to the project.
Drive compliance with Hatch’s Minimum Digital Standards and Information Management procedures and standards.
Ensure utilization of federated project information models for safety in design and technical reviews, stakeholder and client engagement, design and interface issue tracking and resolution and milestone reporting.
Be responsible for all information exchange between Hatch’s common data environment and external parties.
Be accountable for the set-up, implementation and administration of the Project Delivery Systems and IT infrastructure, to support project and/or construction site activities.
