Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

We are currently seeking a talented Intermediate/Senior Water Resources Engineer to become part of our expanding Hydrotechnical team in our Mississauga Office. This is an intermediate position for which your focus will be supporting and executing challenging projects and ensuring technical excellence within the existing team.

Key Responsibilities:
• Developing conceptual, preliminary and detailed hydraulic and hydrologic design of linear infrastructure drainage networks, ditches, culverts, and stormwater ponds
• Drainage design experience with rail and road projects
• Design of erosion and scour protection related to urban and rural drainage infrastructure
• Managing projects that are generally concentrated within the water resources, stormwater management and flood control with opportunities to participate in the hydropower and mining/industrial sectors.
• Stormwater drainage design using computer aid programs; experience with Civil 3D is a must
• Stormwater management modeling using computer programs, experience with PCSWMM, Infoworks, SWMHYMO, Visual Otthymo, as well as using GIS tools for analysis and presentation of concepts
• 1D, and 2D hydraulic modelling of open channel systems and hydraulic structures
• Preparing engineering analyses and designs in collaboration other disciplines
• Preparing detailed technical reports, drawings, specifications and correspondence
• Aid in business development, writing proposals and presenting to clients
• Mentorship and development of junior engineers, designers and technicians
• Ability to coordinate with third party utility companies and participate in client meetings
• Delivering design drawings in accordance with design standards
• Co-ordinate with project managers and discipline engineers and ensure consistency in execution of project management activities to assure that client's work is completed on time, on budget and within the quality standards of the firm
• Participate in the preparation of material quantities and cost estimates
• Providing engineering support during construction
You bring to the role:
Essential experience/capabilities:
o Extensive knowledge of Ontario’s stormwater guidelines and regulations.
o 6+ years post-graduation engineering experience.
o P.Eng. in one or more provinces
o Led or contributed to Area Drainage Studies, including municipal and industrial infrastructure
o Hands on experience with stormwater management modeling including XPSWMM, Info Works, SWMHYMO, Visual Otthymo, HY-8, or other models is highly valued.
o Demonstrated expertise in the Water Resources, Flood Control, Flood Protection and/or hydrotechnical sectors
o Demonstrated experience in site investigations, infrastructure design and rehabilitation from concept to construction and construction support from tendering to inspections
o AutoCAD, Civil3D capabilities
o ArcGIS capabilities (or QGIS) including surface analysis, hydrologic assessments, familiarity with assigning / converting coordinate systems, catchment delineation, etc
o Writes clear, concise technical reports
o Able to work in a team environment, mentoring or supervising EITs and designers
o Team focused with excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of multidisciplinary projects.
o Effective time management skills.
o Working knowledge of Canadian water management standards and best practices;
o Check/review of peer/consultant work
• Desirable experience/capabilities:
o Previous consulting engineering experience.
o Industry recognized expertise in a field or specialization.
o Post graduate education (M.Sc., M.Eng. or equivalent).
o Experience with rail and roads infrastructure including culverts and bridge crossings
o Incorporation of water quality targets and implementation of oil-grit separators into design
o Familiarity with fish passage requirements and implementation into designs
o Incorporation of LID’s into stormwater designs
o Experience with incorporating climate change into design
o Able to interpret and use survey data and support field surveys
o Experience with MicroStation/InRoads/InRail capabilities
