Where can water take you?
Advancing your career will advance our community too.
Water Corporation exists to make WA a great place to live and invest by delivering water services safely, with the lowest environmental impact and at the lowest total cost. The Strategic Planning Office (SPO) is a newly-created, highly collaborative function, which will play a key role in enabling us to achieve this vision for our customers and community.
About the role:
Which business intelligence trends do you think will shape the next 12-24 months?
Augmented analytics? Data quality management? Data-driven cultures?
Whatever you think, we’re looking for your expertise to translate data into meaningful insights. The types of insights that’ll help a business like Water Corporation make effective decisions.
You? As the Senior Analyst – Portfolio Business Intelligence, the most important role you’ll play is ensuring enterprise-wide business intelligence is aligned and prioritised with the corporate strategy and objectives.
This means you’ll be making an organisation more agile by developing and maintaining business intelligence processes. You’ll join forces with your SPO colleagues to develop a consistent enterprise-wide approach to business intelligence.
You’ll also set up and govern a business intelligence self-service portal. As you quickly find your feet and gather data, you’ll be in your element as you identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement right across the business.
Like you, the business understands business intelligence has been transformed over the last decade. That’s why you’ll have access to the latest software and tools, along with the backing of the exec team to deliver your work to a high standard.
Keeping on top of the latest trends is important to you, like it is for your colleagues in BI. Along with you and the rest of the business, they’ll benefit from your insights into data discovery, establishing data driven cultures and data governance.
Your insights will help Water Corporation identify risks and opportunities. Your work will help the executive team keep informed of the company’s overall performance and health. To do this you’ll be using PowerBI and a host of visualisation tools that’ll help you provide meaningful data insights.
You’ll join the SPO team in Leederville, a trendy suburb, 5 minutes from Perth CBD. Your colleagues are a supportive bunch and you’ll learn a variety of knowledge and new perspectives. Like you, they’re joining because they feel a sense of achievement when they see their work come to life. It’s the type of work that’s rewarding, looks great on your CV and lands you promotions.
Speaking of which, Water Corporation has further improved its learning and development framework, which means you can add to your existing supply of skills - and further your career with a company that promotes from within.
This is a permanent, full-time role with flexible working arrangements. Which means you’ve more time to enjoy the important things in life like family – and you. No explanations required.
Key Skills and Experience:
You’ll either have a degree or tertiary level qualification in Data Analytics (Data Science or Business Data Analysis), along with a broad experience in portfolio management across a large, complex organisation.
While qualifications are required for this role, it’s your talent for using reporting and visualisation tools (PowerBI, Tableau, for example) to provide data insights that’ll help you hit the ground running.
As will your experience in extracting and analysing data sets to assist strategic decision making.

At Council Direct, our goal is to simplify the connection between the job seeker and Local Government employers.
In the Search for the right job, Job Seekers can spend a lot of time on Job Boards searching through mountains of jobs that are often poorly cataloged. At Council Direct we specifically target candidates for work across all areas of Council and Local Government.
Connecting Australian Job Seekers Directly with Local Government and Councils through Australia
